Now, I am not “yolking” here, Eggs are hot stuff when it comes to nutrition!
Here are a few reasons why…
Years ago it was thought that eggs raised our bad cholesterol. In actual fact they do not negatively affect cholesterol in the majority of people
Eggs are a great source of protein and have all the essential amino acids in all the right quantities. This makes them perfect after those strenuous workouts…or just a stroll to the kitchen! But, don’t be wasting those yolks and thinking the whites of the eggs are the best bit (That’s Old Skool!)
Eggs are so versatile and make great relatively low cost healthy meals. Some favourites include pancakes, omelettes, scrambled eggs, Yorkshire puddings, cakes, meringues, custard, carbonara ….. the possibilities are endless!
Try putting in whole in anything you are boiling such as pasta, soup, And then you have hard boiled eggs on hand for a snack at anytime.
Many studies have looked at the association with heart disease and egg intake and none have been found
Eggs provide good satiety and may curb those hunger cravings so contribute to success of weight loss
A single large boiled egg contains –
Vitamin A: 6% of the RDA
Folate: 5% of the RDA
Vitamin B5: 7% of the RDA
Vitamin B12: 9% of the RDA
Vitamin B2: 15% of the RDA
Phosphorus: 9% of the RDA
Selenium: 22% of the RDA
In addition to this it contains of vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin K, vitamin B6, calcium and zinc
Referring to the last point they are a great source of Vitamin D, which shows benefits in terms of respiratory diseases.
Eggs are relatively cheap in terms of bang for your buck.
Finally, if your brain is “Fried” or “Scrambled”… I am just confirming that all the above relates to real eggs and not Chocolate Easter Eggs!
